How to Soft or Hard Reset Microsoft/Nokia Lumia when it hangs

I came across with a strange situation with one of my friends’ Nokia Lumia 720. It runs on Windows Phone 8 and I’m also an owner of the same phone. I was curios to know the problem and its solution. When I looked deeper into the issue then found that it’s not only Nokia Lumia 720 but all Microsoft/Nokia Lumia smartphones users are facing this. Windows Phone 8 or Windows Phone 8.1 or Windows Phone 10 users can benefit from this post in case they forgot their pin or their phone stuck or screen blackouts.

Let’s first have look for the problem:

Nokia Lumia / Microsoft Lumia not switching off OR Windows Phone not switching off.
Nokia Lumia / Microsoft Lumia screen black out OR Windows Phone screen black out.
Nokia Lumia / Microsoft Lumia power button not working OR Windows Phone power button not working.
Nokia Lumia / Microsoft Lumia nothing shown on the phone when someone calls to it OR Windows Phone nothing shown on the phone when someone calls to it.
Nokia Lumia / Microsoft Lumia can’t power it off using Windows Device Recovery Tool OR Windows Phone can’t power it off using Windows Device Recovery Tool.

As we all know that some Lumia has issue where the battery of the phone is not replaceable as it is fully covered. So one can’t restart it by taking its battery out and all other options are not working. Here are the perfect solution for factory reset Windows Phone or soft reset Windows Phone or Hard reset Windows Phone:

Soft Reset Windows Phone:

Follow the simple steps given below, these steps are as similar to taking out the battery and then restarting your phone.

Hold volume down button.
While holding volume down, press the power button. Keep holding both simultaneously for 15-20 seconds until the phone vibrates.

This will kick the soft reset of the phone and your phone will restart in few seconds.

Hard reset Windows Phone or factory reset Windows Phone:

Initial steps for this procedure are same as soft reset and then we’ve to use the unique key sequence for getting into hard reset process. Follow the steps as:

Hold volume down button.
While holding volume down, press the power button. Keep holding both simultaneously for 15-20 seconds until the phone vibrates.
As it vibrates release the power button, but keep holding the volume down button until Exclamation mark (!) image comes on screen.
Release volume down button and press following keys in as given sequence.
Volume up.
Volume down.
Power button.
Volume down.

Now you’re in hard reset process or Factory reset process. You’ll see Gear Icon which will proceed to a fresh setup of Windows Phone. Soon you’ll see “Welcome to your Windows Phone, let’s get started”.
