Fix: Time out error while burning disc in Windows 7/ Windows Server 2008 R2

Microsoft released a hotfix for the problem which occurs when we try to burn files to a DVD-R Dual layer disc (DL) in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2. Sometimes the burning operation fails with a time-out error (also in an application that uses Image Mastering API version 2.0 (IMAPI v2) to burn files).

Prerequisites
You must be running Windows 7/ Windows Server 200 R2
Registry Information
No changes needed in registry of Windows
Restart requirement
System must be restarted once to apply the hotfix successfully
Hotfix replacement information
No replacement of previuly released hotfix

  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Windows 7 Professional
  • Windows 7 Ultimate
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard

This hotfix is no directly available for download instead you have to give your email address and then it’ll be mailed to you with download link and password for extracting it.

After requesting you’ll be thanked from Microsoft.

You’ll be prompted for password for extraction.
