Error or bug HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED in Windows 8 Developer Preview (BSOD)

Error or bug HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED in Windows 8 Developer Preview (BSOD)

While installing Windows 8 developer preview on Microsoft Virtual PC you may get this error. And the given below image comes and system processing stops right there.

This one is Blue Screen Of Death which is caused due to failure of HAL initialization. The HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED bug check has a value of 0x0000005C. This may be due the computer has shut down abruptly to protect itself from data loss. A hardware device, its driver, or related software might have caused this error.

How to solve it? Solution to this problem is not sure, but you can try rebooting your PC Or try to update your device drivers for your PC. Even then its not solved then please try alternate for Virtual PC. Try installing on VMWare or Virtual Box as due to some missing HAL initialization files in Virtual PC is creating this problem.

Hello, I also tried that, and I tried it in VirtualBox, but didn’t work for me.
The only option for me to got it working was to install it on VMWare Workstation 8. Make sure to remove the floppy before booting, else you will get a Product Key error.
