Windows 10 Technical Preview for Windows Phones hits web

After releasing the Windows 10 Technical Preview for PCs and Tablets, Microsoft announced the release of Windows 10 Technical Preview for Phones. Now Windows Insiders can enjoy the bits of Windows 10 on Phones too. However it’s having lots of issues and is not equipped with all new features but still is a nice glimpse of the new platform for Windows Phone users. As Microsoft if working of one platform and universal apps, accessing the preview for Windows Phone works the same way as it is for Windows 10 Technical Preview for PCs.

In brief the way to access the preview follow the steps as:

  • Join the Windows Insider Program.
  • Register your device to receive builds as over the air updates
  • Builds will come to you automatically as they are ready, after being validated by engineers at Microsoft and used on their own phones
  • Use the built-in Windows Feedback app to send us problem reports and suggestions
  • Updates will continue all the way up to the final build that goes out to all customers
  • You can roll your phone back to the previous OS any time you’d like

If you are able to access this preview it means you are fulfilling the eligibility criteria for the Windows 10 Technical Preview for Phones as it is limited to few sets of devices only. Right now devices which are supported for the preview are:

  • Lumia 630
  • Lumia 638
  •  Lumia 635
  • Lumia 730
  • Lumia 636
  • Lumia 830

As the development will proceed more devices will be added to the list so that more Windows Phone users can have hands on the preview. In the initial stage of development users may face some issues and as the development continues more stability will be coming to the OS. Soon almost every Windows 8.1 users will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. And for upcoming flagship phones which will be on stores later this year will be launched with Windows 10 itself.
